What is Sexual Medicine?

Sexual Medicine addresses the Medical Aspects of Sexual Concerns and the Sexual Aspects of Medical Concerns, including:

  • Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention of STIs, including HIV/AIDS.

My practice is limited to sexual medicine, addressing sexuality, gender, or relationship concerns from medical, educational, and psychotherapeutic approaches.

How Can I Make an Appointment?

Currently, all patients are seen through the auspices of the Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation. Please call 415-600-4900 to make an appointment. Please note that the patient must be in the State of California when the service occurs.

Due to changes in Medicare regulations, Dr. Moser is no longer a participating Medicare provider.  If you are a Medicare patient, please contact him through this site to discuss options.

Dr. Moser is also available for Sexual Medicine educational and professional consults and as an expert witness.  He can see Medicare patients “out of network.”  Don’t hesitate to get in touch with Dr. Moser through this site for assistance with these services. These services are NOT reimbursed through insurance and are separate from his medical practice.

Charles Moser, PhD, MD is a sexual medicine physician, clinical sexologist, sex educator, and sex researcher practicing in San Francisco, California, and Valencia, Spain.  He is a pioneer in the creation of the new medical specialty of Sexual Medicine – The Medical Aspects of Sexual Concerns and Sexual Aspects of Medical Concerns.

He received his PhD in Human Sexuality from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco in 1979 and his MD from Hahnemann University (now known as Drexel University College of Medicine) in Philadelphia in 1991.  He is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California, who maintained a private psychotherapy practice specializing in the treatment of sexual concerns before his medical career.  He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Board Certified in HIV Medicine by the American Academy of HIV Medicine, and a Fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM).  Currently, Dr. Moser is President of the Diverse Sexualities Research and Education Institute (https://dsrei.org), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.  His private practice focuses on Sexual Medicine. He has authored, co-authored, or edited over 90 scientific papers or books.
